Project Associate: Sustainable Packaging Coalition
GreenBlue operates a variety of projects that are national and international in scope, including the Sustainable Packaging Coalition (SPC). The SPC is a project of GreenBlue and convenes a group of companies worldwide working to increase sustainability in their packaging products and processes. SPC staff provides technical resources, education and tools for member companies, including hosting two annual educational conferences.
Duties
- Conducting technical research and presenting written findings related to sustainable packaging issues. Example topics include sustainable design; recycling, composting, and other packaging end-of-life options; solid waste management policy; forest certification; and on-package recycling label design
- Outreach and communications for SPC membership and How2Recycle program
- Writing summaries of research and reports
- Conference and event management
- Updating content in SPC educational training materials
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree (packaging, environmental or physical sciences preferred)
- One to two years work experience
- Fast learner and desire to grow sustainability knowledge base
- Professional verbal and written communication skills
- Excellent research and writing skills
- Expertise in Microsoft Office Suite, Google apps, and Creative Suite preferred
- Ability to multi-task with attention to detail
- Ability to collaborate effectively in a team setting
- Interest in GreenBlue mission
- Location: Charlottesville, VA
